A single tooth can change an entire smile.

A single veneer on a central incisor is one of the most artistic challenges in cosmetic dentistry. Making a white tooth is not enough. It has to integrate with the neighbouring tooth, copy its light, its texture, its small translucencies — and even its imperfections.

In this case, the patient came in with one of her central incisors darkened. This is common after a childhood impact: the tooth may need root canal treatment and, over the years, start to look darker.

The plan was to improve the context first: dental whitening to organise the overall colour, and composites on the neighbouring teeth to harmonise proportions. Then the ceramic was worked as an individual piece, trying three shade alternatives before choosing the one that integrated best.

The ceramic was finished by hand, like a small white canvas: characterised layer by layer to reproduce the neighbouring tooth. Once colour and texture were right, the adhesive bonding was done — the definitive placement of the piece.

The result aimed at something very precise: that the restored tooth should not be noticeable. With a single veneer, success is not the ceramic drawing attention. Success is it disappearing into the smile.
